Length: 12 months (1050 Clock Hours) 

Schedule: Monday - Friday;  7:30 AM - 1:30PM 

Estimated Cost for FL Resident: (Tuition, books, & fees) $4,300

Basic Skill Levels: TABE Test Scores: 10th grade in Reading, 11th grade in Math, and 10th grade in Language. 

Requirements:

  • Student must pass a Background Test and a Drug Test
  • Student be able to lift 40 pounds and stand for long periods of time
  • Pass a basic physical and obtain required immunizations
  • 18 years old to enter program
  • Student must be a high school graduate or have a GED

Course Overview

 

Program Description: 

The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and offers training in retail/community pharmacy and hospital/institutional pharmacy to prepare students for the pharmacy workforce.

The program offers a combination of classroom instruction, skills practice including extensive IV practice in the clean room (IV hood), and both a retail and an institutional clinical rotation completed at local area pharmacies. Upon completion of the program, students will take the national certification exam offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

SPECIFIC PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

Students must be eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Florida.

We encourage you to consider your personal history when making appropriate career choices.  Students entering all health programs with a clinical study requirement are subject to criminal background checks and/or random drug screenings at their own expense.

Applicants with prior criminal convictions are required to submit the following documentation to Pharmacy Technician Program Director prior to entrance into the program and to the State of Florida Board of Pharmacy when applying for a state Pharmacy Technician license:

Final Dispositions/Arrest Records- Final disposition records for offenses can be obtained at the clerk of the court in the arresting jurisdiction. If the records are not available, you must have a letter on court letterhead sent from the Clerk of the Court attesting to their unavailability.

Completion of Probation/Parole/Sanctions- Probation and financial sanction records for offenses can be obtained at the clerk of the court in the arresting jurisdiction. Parole records for offenses can be obtained from the Department of Corrections or at the clerk of the court in the arresting jurisdiction. If the records are not available, you must have a letter on court letterhead sent from the clerk of the court attesting to their unavailability.

Self Explanation- Applicants who have listed offenses on the application must submit a letter in their own words describing the circumstances of the offense.
