Program Transfer Policy

TRANSFER OF CREDIT POLICY

Transfer of Credit TO Brewster:
Persons requesting to transfer credit from other accredited institutions into similar programs at Brewster must do the following:

  1. Meet the entry requirements for the program.
  2. Provide an official transcript documenting that they have passed the specific course per the program-specific, curriculum framework. 

Transfer of credit will be considered for work that was completed within the past two years. The documentation will be reviewed to determine if credit can be transferred.

Transfer of Credit WITHIN Brewster:
Students who plan to transfer from their current program to another program at Brewster, should take the following steps so that our Student Services and Financial Aid offices may assist the student:

  1. Inform their present instructor and advisor that they are considering the transfer.
  2. Meet with the program advisor for new program information to determine what eligibility criteria they need to meet and for next start date.
  3. Complete ALLTABE exit requirements for their CURRENT program (if applicable).
  4. Visit the Financial Aid office to determine your financial aid status for the new program:
    1. Pell Grant eligible students transferring to a 600-plus hour program may continue to earn Pell.
    2. There will be a new calculation of the monies to be awarded based upon the length (number of hours) of the new program and its start date.

Transfer of Credit FROM Brewster: 
Students who plan to transfer to a different school within an award year:

  1. Visit the Financial Aid office so that a Financial Aid Advisor can assist in adding the school that the student will be attending to the student's personal FAFSA data/information.
  2. Request that Brewster mail an official transcript to the school requested.

Courses and programs are offered as part of the adult education program of Hillsborough County Schools under the direction of the School Board of Hillsborough County.
