Practical Nursing Class Beginning January, 2011

Applications will be accepted in person only from August 3, 2010 through August 24, 2010, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The application period will close promptly at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2010.

APPLICATION STEP 1

Standard U.S. high school diploma (must have a sealed transcript) from an accredited site** or a GED Diploma

Take and pass the TABE Test (at Brewster or Erwin only) with a minimum of "11" in reading, mathematics, and language, OR possess a college degree (official sealed transcript required) from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.

A $45 Money Order (non-refundable & subject to change); this includes application and testing fees

Complete a Brewster Technical Center application.

Financial Aid: See the financial aid officer before or after the TABE Test to submit a 2009/10 FAFSA application with your 2008 return and complete the financial aid interview.

If you already have a Bachelor’s Degree, you are NOT PELL eligible.

We DO NOT process student loans.

A lottery will be conducted afterAugust 24, 2010; students will be notified by mail prior to September 3, 2010.* A small percentage of seats are reserved for Brewster graduates.

STEP 2

For those students selected via the lottery, a MANDATORY informational meeting will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Building 3, Room 216B.  Latecomers will lose their seat in the class.

STEP 3

Lottery selected students must submit an LPN Admission Packet to Student Services. The DEADLINE for packet submission is Wednesday, October 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.  Incomplete or late packets will NOT be considered and will result in your loss of a seat for the next class. All material to be included in the packet must be submitted at the same time.

Packet items include, but may not be limited to:

1. physical

2. immunizations

3. statement of tuition payment method

STEP 4

Attend a MANDATORY orientation meeting on Friday November 19, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., Bldg. 3, Room 216B.

*For those applicants not selected in the lottery, you must notify the LPN Program Coordinator of your intention to resubmit your application for the 2010 LPN class.

**Foreign transcripts must be translated and certified as equivalent to an American diploma, and students who submit these transcripts must meet TABE requirements. Brewster Technical Center has a list of approved accrediting agencies.
